According to a knol by Sue Thomas about Transliteracy:
Transliteracy is the ability to read, write and interact across a range of platforms, tools and media from signing and orality through handwriting, print, TV, radio and film, to digital social networks.
Transliteracy in today’s world is, in my opinion, a cultural phenomenon and perhaps one of the most important skill a human being should have, especially by the wide varieties of today platforms, tools and media. i.e. You can’t really able to communicate well with your kids about iPods if you don’t spend time to learn about iPod and Podcasting.
The wealth of information flowing at the speed of light today require you and me to ‘discern’ the most important ones. And your ability to read, write and interact with anything and through anything will help you get the most of them.
Being transliterate is not hard as you think – as long as you have access to the Internet, you are ready to go.
