airsoft-gunsAirsoft is both an hobby and a sports. It’s an hobby where people collects realistic and non-lethal replicas of many types of popular firearms. It’s a sports where people prepares events where they play battle games against friends with these non-lethal shooting replicas of firearms.

An airsoft gun is an exact replica of its original. Unless you are a professional, you cannot distinguish the two from each other. The only difference is what happens when you pull the trigger.

The Airsoft sport started in the USA and migrated quickly to Japan in the beginning of 1980s. It was illegal to own real firearms in Japan and this was an ideal way of fulfilling the appetite of people for firearms. Airsoft started appearing in the continental Europe after 1990s.

As I have stated above, an Airsoft gun is a one to one scale replica of its original. These guns (or pistols of course) fire 6mm, round and plastic bullets which are usually referred to as BBs.  The bullets are propelled out of the gun by compressed air. The energy providing the creation of this compressed air is what makes the 3 types of Airsoft guns;

1- Spring Airsoft Guns: These guns are simply spring powered. You have to cock the spring first before each shoot. The system is very cost effective and therefore the guns are very cheap (like 20-50$). Thus these guns are accepted as entry level guns to Airsoft sports. Almost all fans of this sport have used a spring Airsoft gun.
2- Gas Airsoft: The Gas Airsoft guns allow a rather realistic, semi automatic firing of the gun by employing either an onboard or magazine stored gas storage system. Simply, the same compressed air that propels the bullet out of the bore is harnessed to cycle the slide back.
3- Electric Airsoft: The last and most modern types of Airsoft Guns are the Automatic Electric Guns (AEG). Basically and AEG is powered by a battery that is placed inside the gun mechanism. This battery operates a motor that turns the gears inside the gun to compress the air and release a piston which in turn creates the blast of air needed to propel the 6mm bullet.

Airsoft gives the people to mimic a Navy Seal or a SWAT commando and jump into an Hollywood film action scene without the risk of being killed or killing anyone. Whether you are a banker, a teacher or an accountant, you will have the chance to spend a day shooting friends with real life guns, pistols or even snipers.
