BiofeedbackApplying psychology principles to other disciplines proves to be the most effective ways to understand issues better and achieve better results.

For example, neurofinance is a new discipline that combines psychology, neurosience and finance. In health treatment, one prominent example of the combination of multi-discipline is biofeedback.

A knol on biofeedback by Arnon Rolnick, a clinical psychologist, explains how biofeedback can be applied not only to therapeutic treatments, but also to non-therapeutic treatments.

What is biofeedback? According to the knol:

Biofeedback is a treatment method that uses monitoring instruments to measure and provide feedback information about the activity of the autonomic nervous system, thus enabling an individual to learn how to change physiological activity for the purposes of improving health and performance.

Biofeedback is considered as a convergence of multi-disciplines: Psychology, Biology and Information Technology.

On therapeutic applications, Arnon Rolnick explained that biofeedback is effective in the treatment of a variety of medical and psychological conditions, due to the measurable results and higher perceived validity nature.

On other and non-therapeutic applications, biofeedback can help enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of training in sports, as well as stress management in business and schools, for example. The possibilities of biofeedback treatment are endless.

In my opinion, biofeedback and psychological treatment in general are effective, due to many illness and problems are more caused by psychological issues, rather than physiological issues. Moreover, solving the psychological problems do ‘cure’, or at least lessen the impact of the illness and other problems themselves.
