It’s an hobby where people collects realistic and non-lethal replicas of many types of popular firearms. It’s a sports where people prepares events where they play battle games against friends with these non-lethal shooting replicas of firearms.

An airsoft gun is an exact replica of its original. Unless you are a professional, you cannot distinguish the two from each other. The only difference is what happens when you pull the trigger.

The Airsoft sport started in the USA and migrated quickly to Japan in the beginning of 1980s. It was illegal to own real firearms in Japan and this was an ideal way of fulfilling the appetite of people for firearms. Airsoft started appearing in the continental Europe after 1990s.

As I have stated above, an Airsoft gun is a one to one scale replica of its original. These guns (or pistols of course) fire 6mm, round and plastic bullets which are usually referred to as BBs. The bullets are propelled out of the gun by compressed air. The energy providing the creation of this compressed air is what makes the 3 types of Airsoft guns;

1- Spring Airsoft Guns: These guns are simply spring powered. You have to cock the spring first before each shoot. The system is very cost effective and therefore the guns are very cheap (like 20-50$). Thus these guns are accepted as entry level guns to Airsoft sports. Almost all fans of this sport have used a spring Airsoft gun.
2- Gas Airsoft: The Gas Airsoft guns allow a rather realistic, semi automatic firing of the gun by employing either an onboard or magazine stored gas storage system. Simply, the same compressed air that propels the bullet out of the bore is harnessed to cycle the slide back.
3- Electric Airsoft: The last and most modern types of Airsoft Guns are the Automatic Electric Guns (AEG). Basically and AEG is powered by a battery that is placed inside the gun mechanism. This battery operates a motor that turns the gears inside the gun to compress the air and release a piston which in turn creates the blast of air needed to propel the 6mm bullet.

Airsoft gives the people to mimic a Navy Seal or a SWAT commando and jump into an Hollywood film action scene without the risk of being killed or killing anyone. Whether you are a banker, a teacher or an accountant, you will have the chance to spend a day shooting friends with real life guns, pistols or even snipers.

Some other thinks that golf is similar to a walk in the park, leisure-type of sport.

The above might be arguably correct, but to the extent of “leisure” golfing.

In competitive game of golf, the physical and mental demands to the golfers are great. Hitting a golf ball might be a cake walk, but hitting a golf ball well is extremely difficult – That’s why Tiger Woods is better than you and I.

Here is a great knol on golf that teach you the step-by-step to hit a golf ball straight, far, and land in where you want it.

Consistency is key, and it requires patience and lots of practice. A golf swing, indeed, is a very precise motion, thus your ability in controlling your body and emotion, combined with years of practice, will determine your success in golfing.

Again, I recommend you to visit the knol that teach you the basics of golf swing that will result a good hit.

The game is fast paced and played with more tactical than technical strategies. The key in foosball is not only precision, but also the ability to deceive your opponent.

To master foosball, the following are the skills you must have to master the game of foosball, excerpted from a knol written by Rishi Mittal that I found from Google Knol:

1. Recovery
Recovering a loose ball that would otherwise be placed in the opponent’s possession.

2. Grip
Gripping the ball can cause deception because he who is in control moves the ball.

3. Passing
Skillfully accurate passes are difficult but necessary to deceive the opponent away from the passing direction.

4. Penalty Kicks
Developing the skill for this shot will also make a quick shot in-game much easier with practice.

5. Dribbling
A combination of gripping and passing to confuse the opponent and eventually set up for a shot is dribbling.

6. Shooting
Perhaps the most important and deceptive aspect of the game, shooting must be done with strategy and skillful accuracy.

7. Blocking
Blocking is considered the opposite reaction, or defensive response, to passing and shooting.

8. Defense
The back two bars are considered defense, and must be in position at all times – manned or not.

If you are a runner, either a novice or an experienced one, consider reading the informative knol by Amy Halleran, that explore things to prepare for running in heat and humidity.

I learn from the knol that forcing yourself to run in heat and humidity without adequate preparation will take a toll on your body. It is said that humidity alone could affect your poor performance.

Amy explained that there are two general areas to consider in preparation for running in heat and humidity:

Hydration – One of the most critical actions to take to prepare for running in heat and humidity is to ensure hydration. Many runners think they are drinking enough and the bottom line is they are not.

Heart rate – The heat and humidity increase heart rate. When the two elements are experienced together the effect is magnified.

You should be aware of the warning signs that you are running not in the right way:

Chills,

Light-headedness,

Dizziness,

Confusion.

If you do experience the symptoms, take the following actions:

Stop running immediately,

Seek shade,

Sit down,

Drink fluids,

Call for help (stop a stranger if necessary to help in taking these actions).

A knol by David Moran offer an excellent guide to disc golf sport.

What is disc golf? Here’s how David explain about it:

Disc Golf is a sport in which the object is to throw a disc (a smaller sized frisbee) into a basket in as little stokes as possible. Quoted from the PGDA (Professional Disc Golf Association), “The object of the game is to traverse a course from beginning to end in the fewest number of throws of the disc.”

Disc golf, which often refer to frisbee golf, is considerably different to the original sport of golf, but share a similar concept – to reach a target in as little strokes as possible.

Disc golf sport involves the disc, with the following types:

The driver – less accurate, but great distance with curvy flight path.

The mid-range disc – more accurate, more straight flight path, but less travel distance than the driver.

The putter – very accurate, but is usually used within 10 meters to the hole.

If you are interested in frisbee, you might want to know more about frisbee golf.

Physical abilities, often measured in term of speed, power and endurance, is important in any sport, particularly in team sport and contact sport. Lacking the physical skill will only make your creativity and talent overshadowed.

Focused on soccer, Stronger Soccer, a knol by John Smith, describes the drills from Nike SQARQ Training to improve soccer skills.

The Training involves endurance, explosiveness, agility and speed training – all the needed training drills that a soccer player need.

Following the drills carefully will eventually help you on becoming a better soccer player. I strongly believe that creativity, combined with good physical ability, will help an athlete to perform well.

According to Cricket vs. Baseball, a knol from Awais Zia, baseball and cricket share many similar aspects. Both sports are fundamentally about hitting a ball with a bat and scoring runs.

The knol is comparing baseball and crickets terms and the concepts of game. Awais is indicating that he will continue the lists.

One of the interesting lists that interest me is “In cricket, a batsman runs on the pitch back and forth to score runs, whereas in baseball a batter runs around the diamond to score runs.” According to this, I think cricket is a more difficult sport to play than baseball! Well, what do you think?

This knol is definitely an interesting knol to follow if you are cricket, baseball and general sports enthusiasts.
